Do note that if the PDF was a scanned document (especially if the scanned image is crooked), Nuance may have difficulty converting the entire PDF into an editable form.

If the PDF was received as a form to be filled out, Nuance has a built in function to turn the PDF into a form that can be easily filled out without needing to create text boxes.

  1. Open Nuance Power PDF
  2. Open the PDF file that has to be converted to a form.
  3. Click the "Forms" tab at the top toolbar.
  4. Click "Form Typer". Give nuance a minute or so to convert the PDF.
  5. Gray boxes will appear on the newly created form that will editing.
    1. If there are any spaces that don't have a gray box / highlight but needs to be filled out, a text box or the type editor will need to be used.
      1. Text box route: This works for both a scanned document and a regular PDF converted to a form.
        1. Click "Forms" tab from the top toolbar.
        2. Click "Text Field" then left click and drag the text field over the area where text needs to be entered.
        3. Right click the text box to change settings like font, font size, alignment, etc.
      2. Type Editor route: This works primarily with a regular PDF converted to a form and may or may not work with a scanned document converted into a form.

        2. Click "Typewriter" then left click where text needs to be added in the PDF.
