Do note that if the PDF was a scanned document (especially if the scanned image is crooked), Nuance may have difficulty converting the entire PDF into an editable form.
If the PDF was received as a form to be filled out, Nuance has a built in function to turn the PDF into a form that can be easily filled out without needing to create text boxes.
- Open Nuance Power PDF
- Open the PDF file that has to be converted to a form.
- Click the "Forms" tab at the top toolbar.
- Click "Form Typer". Give nuance a minute or so to convert the PDF.
- Gray boxes will appear on the newly created form that will editing.
- If there are any spaces that don't have a gray box / highlight but needs to be filled out, a text box or the type editor will need to be used.
- Text box route: This works for both a scanned document and a regular PDF converted to a form.
- Click "Forms" tab from the top toolbar.
- Click "Text Field" then left click and drag the text field over the area where text needs to be entered.
- Right click the text box to change settings like font, font size, alignment, etc.
